The Orion Enabling Art Centre
(EAC) was launched in 2010 after realising
the amazing talent our children and
profoundly disabled adults have. In the past
their artwork were utilised to give to
donors as gifts, auctioned at events to
raise additional funds, etc. However during
a visit to the United States in October
2010, much appreciation was shown for the
specific model and its great potential.
The EAC aims to enable and liberate profoundly disabled artists to use their creative ideas and talents to elevate them from limitations to possibilities, by breaking down stigmatization, victimization and segregation. The objective is to use the EAC initiative to create opportunities to stimulate social dialogue and intervention, and inspiring social justice. The Orion EAC will be used as a catalyst and omnipresent symbol to bring about social justice, via addressing sensitive social issues, resulting in positive social change. |
A series of 8 events will be conducted, each addressing the 8 pillars (on next page) that Orion has identified. During these events, exhibitions will be held where social dialogue will take place. Together with this, leading up to each event we will conduct a series of conversations regarding the specific pillar that the event will be focusing on.

How does the project affect Local Community? We believe that society also have challenges to overcome, it may not necessarily be a physical, mental or intellectual disability.
The purpose is to highlight the voices of citizens by providing a platform to conduct social dialogue between them and influential experts/ ambassadors. The platform opportunities will be created through media and social networking, e.g. newspapers, magazines, television, mini documentaries, radio talk shows, religious communities, website, Facebook, blogging, vlogging, Twitter, etc. These mediums will be used as conversation starters.
